It could be hard to recognize an imposter through the lies they
tell. They use a variety of tricks to get your attention and your money.
Don't be fooled by their stories of how "you just won the lottery" or "I am auditor from your bank".
The scammers never sleep except to dream up new ways to get your hard earned cash.

Credit Repair Scams Recently the Federal Trade Commission issued a press release on a settlement with one of the nations largest credit repair agencies; a Texas-based company has agreed to pay $400,000 to settle Federal Trade Commission charges that it violated federal law by lying to consumer reporting agencies, often referred to as “credit bureaus,” and charging consumers up-front fees as much as $2,000.00 before providing its services....More

IRS Agent Scammer Tax season may be over, but scammers posing as IRS officials continue to call, saying people owe taxes and better pay up. They threaten to arrest or deport people, revoke a license, or even shut down a business. How do they do it? By rigging caller ID...More

Is That Debt Collector Real?  It’s stressful enough getting calls from debt collectors for bills you actually owe. But if you’ve ever been harassed and threatened for debts you’ve never even heard about, let alone accrued, it can be downright harrowing – and quite possibly illegal....More

Fake Utility Bill Collectors  The caller sounds convincing: If you don’t pay your utility bills immediately, your gas, electricity or water will be shut off. They ask you to pay using a specific — and unusual — method....More

Oh this makes my blood boil! My grandmother got ripped off by a credit repair place, even though she had never had bad credit in her life. They approached her not long after my grandpa died...maybe these vermin watch the obits...and they took her for more than three grand. I am very cautious about everything...even more now than before. I really appreciate your providing the information on the various scams and I can attest to the fact that they are real... and real slimy.

You probably don't want to hear what I'd like to do with scammers. Well maybe you would like to hear, but I doubt in would be allowed.

Josh,
I hear you, that's one of the reasons I created this blog to inform people that they cannot do anything for you that you can do yourself.
and to plug my DIY Repair e-book on www.diycreditrepairnow.com

These are all good links to read about staying aware of money scams. I love how you aggregated this information in one place. A few years ago, my grandfather was almost swindled by a person who offered him a life insurance policy for a big chunk of money with no health screenings, or what have you. Luckily, my grandfather called my dad to have him look over the terms before he ever exchanged any money. The elderly, the poor, and the young are easy targets for scammers.
